Paving in Midrand, Halfway House and Kyalami
Newer homes, larger plots and a lot of estates. Many Midrand enquiries are about extending or replacing developer paving rather than paving from scratch.
Granite with dolomite to the north
Midrand grew up around Halfway House, and the granite under it carries the name: the Halfway House Granite. Research on Gauteng's dolomitic land describes the dolomite forming two broad arches around that granite. SRK Consulting names Centurion, to the north, among the areas underlain by dolomite. So a Midrand stand may be on granite, near the dolomite edge or in between, and the development's geotechnical report is the best guide to which.

Developer paving, ten or twenty years on
In many Midrand estates the first paving was laid by the developer, quickly and in bulk. As it ages, owners ask about extending a driveway to fit another car, adding a patio, relaying sections that have dropped, or replacing the lot. Matching the original paver can be hard if the product has been discontinued; a contrasting border is sometimes the neater answer.
A competitive market
One contractor's published 2026 guide calls Fourways and Midrand the most competitive market for paving rates in its area, and another contractor's regional table lists a separate Midrand band. Both are on the paving cost guide with their sources. A competitive market is good for you only if the quotes describe the same job, so compare them line by line.
